Adventure Island - Retro Gameplay

It's another Throwback Thursday at Gamereactor, so we play the first three levels of the difficult, addictive and bizarre Adventure Island (1986 - 1992; MSX, NES). And yeah, Sega fans, you're right, despite clearly saying "Hudson's" at game title, this game (along with its eggs and skateboard mechanics) actually comes from another classic called Wonder Boy. But then both followed different paths, and we'll play the next entries soon, for videogame history's sake if nothing else. As you can see with this gameplay clip (turn the volume up for some catchy MIDI tunes you won't stop humming), we aren't that bad 22 years later, even with those trademark slippery controls, loads of traps and disappearing sprites.
