Pada GDC San Francisco, setiap tahun Independent Games Festival diberikan kepada game-game yang didaftarkan, baik sudah maupun belum dirilis. Return of the Obra Dinn merupakan game yang banyak mendapatkan nominasi, termasuk Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Excellence in Visual Art, Audio, Design Narrative, kurang lebih semuanya. Game lain yang mendapatkan banyak nominasi adalah Paratopic, Noita, dan Do Not Feed the Monkeys.
