BlizzCon played host to a number of highly competitive competition this past weekend with some expected winners and some pretty sizable upsets.
Team China came out victorious in the Hearthstone Global Games (HGG) with a clean sweep in the finals against Brazil. The comprised of Gao "Leaoh" Yang, Zheng "OmegaZero" Lin, Zhang "YouLove" Lichen, and He "Trunks" Huan, in a somewhat unusual move the team had each player focus on a couple of classes.
"Everyone was assigned and had their classes that they excel at," Trunks said after the finals. "The one advantage that we have compared to other teams I think is that we did a better job on picks, bans, and the class player order."
It was North American teams that dominated the World of Warcraft Arena World Championship (AWC) with Method Orange winning the title against The Gosu Crew in the final. The final was a clean sweep 4-0 as instead of adapting to Method Orange's tactics and multi-classing, The Gosu Crew stayed true to their original tactics, but to no avail.
Free Marsy took home the Mythic Dungeon Invitational All-Stars, an exhibition event that served as the start of Mythic Dungeon Racing in Battle for Azeroth. We previously reported on the first non-Korean winner of the StarCraft II World Championships - Joona "Serral" Sotala, and how South Korea claimed their third straight Overwatch World Cup, and that GenG captured the HGC (Heroes of the Storm) crown.
