AS Monaco Esports has announced a partnership with Gambit Esports. This partnership is set to form a new team called AS Monaco Gambit, and will see rosters compete at the highest level in Fortnite and Dota 2 professional scenes.
According to the announcement post, there will be eight players (three for Fortnite and five for Dota 2), alongside four staff members that will be wearing the new AS Monaco Gambit jerseys in the respective games they compete over.
"We are delighted to launch this partnership with Gambit Esports," said Oleg Petrov, Vice-President and CEO of AS Monaco. "The creation of our joint team, AS Monaco Gambit, allows us to take a new step in this sector by joining forces with a reference on the international Esports scene."
This will also make AS Monaco the first football club to enter professional Fortnite, and aside from competing in tournaments, will see the football club and Gambit Esports work together for several joint operations for fans, when it is permitted from a health and safety standpoint.
Irina Semyonova, Head of the MTS Esports Department (owners of Gambit Esports) also commented on the matter, saying: "The partnership with AS Monaco will allow us to offer a unique experience to football and sports fans. With the creation of the AS Monaco Gambit team, we become the first Russian Esports club to establish a relationship with a foreign team. This is a great opportunity to develop our activities."
