WEBVTT 00:00.000 --> 00:07.840 Hi there, welcome back to GRTV News, I'm Alex, as always going through the afternoons, latest 00:07.840 --> 00:11.160 and greatest when it comes to gaming, technology, entertainment, whatever you like and indeed 00:11.160 --> 00:14.960 whatever you love. We always have it here for you at GRTV News and in the wider Gamereactor 00:14.960 --> 00:18.080 network as a whole, so if you like what you see and you want to see more, be sure to check 00:18.080 --> 00:21.760 out Gamereactor wherever you get it from for more gaming reviews, gaming previews, movie 00:21.760 --> 00:25.600 reviews, series reviews, exclusives, interviews, world news, sports news and of course so much 00:25.600 --> 00:29.600 more. Without further ado though, today we're talking about gaming and AI again, another 00:29.600 --> 00:37.280 beloved developer using AI again. Now, we've seen in recent weeks, I want to say, was it 00:37.280 --> 00:42.000 even last week? I don't know, it's a weird Christmas time, time is just sort of a simulation 00:42.000 --> 00:46.240 it feels like at this point, but recently Larian Studios got into a bit of hot water 00:46.240 --> 00:51.520 because a Bloomberg report stated that Sven Rinker is pushing pretty hard on AI and that 00:51.520 --> 00:57.120 everyone at the studio is sort of now working with AI in certain levels at Larian. Now it's 00:57.120 --> 01:01.760 worth mentioning that nothing in terms of Divinity is going to be AI generated or anything 01:01.760 --> 01:06.720 like that because of the upcoming Larian game, but basically they're looking to see if they 01:06.720 --> 01:11.680 can share productivity and things like that. Then Claire Obscure at Expedition 33 got outed 01:11.680 --> 01:16.320 from an interview earlier this year that they did use Gen AI in a past edition iteration 01:16.320 --> 01:21.520 of the game but then got patched out. That caused it to lose an Indie Game of the Year 01:21.520 --> 01:26.000 award and the Best Debut Indie award at the Indie Game Awards and now we have CD Projekt 01:26.000 --> 01:30.960 Red, developer of the upcoming Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 saying that they are working 01:30.960 --> 01:38.080 with AI. So co-CEO Michal Nowakowski said that the studio is making use of AI but with 01:38.080 --> 01:42.240 nothing in terms of actually making games. He said of Echo, as for reducing headcount 01:42.240 --> 01:46.720 thanks to AI, I don't imagine that. Our usage of AI is mainly for the productivity areas 01:46.720 --> 01:50.320 and that's where we see the largest benefits of that. The benefits are real, they're meaningful 01:50.320 --> 01:55.760 but it's not a situation and I'm unaware of such a situation where AI could sit down and 01:55.760 --> 01:58.880 make games. It doesn't mean it's not going to be useful but it's not going to be making 01:58.880 --> 02:03.120 The Witcher 5 or 6 or anything like that. We'd also imagine that that means The Witcher 02:03.120 --> 02:09.120 4 does not use AI in any capacity. So a lot of developers are now beginning to experiment 02:09.120 --> 02:12.880 with AI, that's just something that we seem to be living with despite it being clear that 02:12.880 --> 02:17.120 there's a very large and quite loud portion of the gaming audience that do not want to 02:17.120 --> 02:22.240 see generative AI or AI in general associated with their favourite projects. It's believed 02:22.240 --> 02:26.720 to, on that argument, tarnish artistic integrity. Whether you agree with that or not is entirely 02:26.720 --> 02:30.240 up to you, it's entirely up to me as well, but that's the argument basically for people 02:30.240 --> 02:35.200 who are anti-AI, for people who are pro-AI. Obviously there are things that it can do 02:35.200 --> 02:40.560 that can help out with game development like programming, like coding, like productivity 02:40.560 --> 02:46.320 as Nowakowski mentions there, things like making PowerPoint slides and scheduling and doing things 02:46.320 --> 02:51.520 that are sort of seen as maybe more menial tasks. However it's good to know that he doesn't think 02:51.520 --> 02:56.160 that it's going to reduce the headcount, no one's job is going to be replaced by AI as of yet, 02:56.160 --> 03:01.360 it's always worth saying things like that. But yeah, another big developer is experimenting 03:01.360 --> 03:05.840 with AI. We'll have to see what this brings, whether it's the first step towards full AI 03:05.840 --> 03:09.680 integration across the board pretty much, or whether it's just something that's going to be 03:09.680 --> 03:13.120 experimented with and then dropped in the near future. Let me know what you think about gaming 03:13.120 --> 03:17.280 and AI, whether you think you're going to stop really listening to developers as they start to 03:17.280 --> 03:21.600 take on more AI, and I'll see you tomorrow for some more JLTV news, a Christmas special maybe.
