Wildcard Gaming to miss the 2021 Six Invitational

The team has not been given the greenlight to travel for the event and will miss the tournament as a result.

HQ

A few weeks ago, Ubisoft announced its plans for the 2021 Six Invitational stating that the event would be a live LAN event set in Paris, without a live audience and following a strict health and safety policy. Well, due to the difficulties concerning global travel, we've already seen issues already plaguing teams, and now it looks like Wildcard Gaming is the next organisation facing challenges.

According to a post by Ubisoft themselves, Wildcard Gaming will not be attending the Six Invitational themselves, due to them not being "given the greenlight to travel by their government."

As this update has come quite close to the beginning of the event (set for a February 4 start), and a replacement team will not be given the time necessary to make travel arrangements. So, Ubisoft has decided to change the format to fit 19 teams instead.

Due to this issue, Ubisoft has also stated: " The team will receive 1% of the total prizepool, corresponding to a 17th to 20th ranking in the competition," meaning the roster who rightly qualified will be rewarded to an extent.

We are also promised further updates regarding the schedule and format soon.
