UK industry trade body Ukie has revealed that they're partnering with Intel and the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Video Games to host a parliamentary event dedicated to esports at the Palace of Westminster on October 29, showing the scale of the sector and the potential it has to transform towns and engage young people.

Various figures from esports as well as teachers, businesses, and brands will be there, engaging with politicians about both the positives and the challenges of esports. The British Esports Association will even be there, hoping to talk to ministers, policymakers, and MPs about their Championships and the benefits of esports.

Ukie CEO Dr Jo Twist said: "We are delighted to be hosting the very first esports event at Parliament, in partnership with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Video Games and Intel."

"Esports is one of fastest growing sectors in the world and the event gives us a great chance to help policy makers and politicians to understand more about the scale of the sector and the opportunities it presents to the UK in areas such as job creation, local economic growth, tourism, new skills development and careers."

Are these kinds of events important for UK esports?
